,-.....
~

c

r
'--"

City of Sunny Isles Beach: Special Inspection Services
RFO No. 11-07-11

. Program Management
. Public and Community Involvement
. Regulatory Planning Assistance
. Scheduling and Budgeting
. Site and Facility Evaluation
. Strategic Facility Planning
. Structural Engineering
. Threatened & Endangered Species Surveys and Consultation
. Transportation Engineering
. Visualization Techniques
. Water Resources
. Water and Wastewater Planning and Engineering

2.3 REQUIRED SERVICES QUALIFICATIONS OVERVIEW

URS has extensive, demonstrated Florida experience with the design of small to major bridge and pier
structures - both over local canals as well as in and over major coastal waterways. Our experiences include
the design of more traditional pile and pier-supported bridges, as well as the more complex and challenging
moveable bascule bridge structures. Inherent in the design of such structures is the demonstrated
understanding and ability to coordinate and communicate with project design team consultants and
their subconsultants in order to produce complete and accurate/buildable designs in a timely manner. Also
inherent is the civil, structural, geotechnical, MEP, life safety, fire, landscaping design and oversight of
surveying services and our proven ability to read, understand, and approve concrete design mixes for
structure in beach, island, and canal environments..

URS experience and expertise in this regard has resulted in the successful design and construction of some
of the most notable bridge projects in Florida including the Award winning SE 17th Street Causeway Bridge in
Fort Lauderdale and the SR 704 Royale Park Replacement Bridge in downtown West Palm Beach. URS was
also responsible for the design and CEI services for the new high level Thomas B. Manual Bridge over the St.
Lucie Canal on the Florida's Turnpike in St. Lucie County, Florida. The Thomas B. Manual project included
both a new high level pile supported bridge and demolition and replacement of the bridge deck on the pre-
existing bridge.

In addition, URS' Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division has provided construction management
and CEI services for some of the most difficult and challenging projects to construct in the South Florida
region. Within the last 11 years, URS CEI staff have successfully completed the construction of such major bridge
structures as the SR 804 Ocean Avenue bridge in Boynton Beach, FL; the SR 704 Royale Park replacement bridge
in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida and most recently in 2010, the SR A1A Bridge of Lion Replacement Bridge
in downtown St. Augustine, Florida. All of these projects required the demolition of the existing bridge structure
and the re-routing of traffic flows in highly populated areas. To facilitate construction of the SR 704 Royale
Park and SR A 1 A Bridge of Lions projects, it was necessary to construct a pile supported temporary bridges
adjacent to the existing bridge to reroute traffic over the Intracoastal Waterway prior to the commencement of
demolition of the old bridge structures.

2 3 I ;-; ~ --
- - c ~ '::

URS
