Code) * <br /> <br />*In addition, Special Inspections may be required by the various chapters for projects subject High <br />Velocity Hurricane Zonings. <br /> <br />URS inspection staff is well qualified to provide Special Inspections under the direction of a Florida <br />Registered Professional Engineer in those technical disciplines categories listed on the project organizational <br />chart. <br /> <br />Additionally, URS staff is experienced in providing traditional rebar inspections, pre-cast yard piling <br />inspections and concrete inspections as required by ACI-304. Of particular importance to the City's projects <br />will be the Special Inspector for Piling under FBC 1822.1.20. URS Geotechnical Manager Mr. Tom Mullin <br />is the foundation design Engineer of Record and has been providing Special Inspector for Pilings on <br />numerous high rises in the Sunny Isles Beach area. Projects under his experience and purview include <br />the 47- story LaPerla Tower right at the Newport Fishing Pier, the 25 to 40-story Pinnacle tower, the 50-story <br />Aqualina Tower, the 54-story Trump Palace and Trump Royale Towers and the Ocean I, II and III Towers as <br />well as other smaller towers in the Sunny Isles and North Miami Beach area. Mr. Mullin is highly <br />knowledgeable on the subsurface conditions to be encountered in the Sunny Isles Beach area.Q <br /> <br />2.8 GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING AND MATERIAL TESTING SERVICES AND QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Geotechnical Desiqn and ACIP Pile Installation - URS has been providing Geotechnical Engineering <br />Services to the South Florida region for over 35 years since the opening of the URS office in Boca Raton, FL <br />in 1975. As indicated above, URS and Mr. Tom Mullin is the geotechnical Engineer of Record and has <br />provided Geotechnical design services for the majority of the newer high rise towers constructed in Sunny <br />Isles Beach along Collins Avenue since the late 1990s and have provided augered cast-in-place (ACIP) piling <br />installation inspection, documentation and certification of foundation capacity on thousands of ACIP piles <br />installed in the City. <br /> <br />Geotechnical evaluation and design services for these high rise projects have included axial and lateral pile <br />capacity evaluations, comprehensive settlement estimating, design of bulkheads and seawalls, <br />recommendations for surcharging of compressible deposits and dewatering disposal permitting and impact <br /> <br />2-21 I D '= g e <br /> <br />URS <br />
