The project included constructing <br />new track and upgrading existing track, installing a new signal <br />system and upgrading existing signals, rehabilitation of a 70-year- <br />old bascule bridge over the Miami River to improve reliability, <br />and environmental remediation of a site for a new station, and <br />design and construction of a new train station. The project cost <br />was $15M. It was originally design in 1949 for thc maintcnance <br />of bombers. 1t was severely damaged by Hurricane Andrcw. As <br />part of the Homcstcad APB realignment, managed the structural <br />evaluation of thc hangar to mcet currcnt building codcs, <br />particularly, wind loading provisions, and developed <br />recommcndations for the strengthcning of the hangar. Evaluatcd <br />the hangar floor slab and concrete apron pavements for various <br />types of aircraft loadings. (1994) <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />o Structural engincer for the evaluation of airport terminals and <br />design of beacon towers, for the Key West and Marathon <br />Airports, Monroe County, Florida. <br /> <br />· Toll Road Facilities <br /> <br />,,- <br />'--' <br /> <br />o Rcsponsible for the structural review of toll facilities throughout <br />the Florida Turnpike system. (1991-1994) <br /> <br />o Project manager and structural Engineer of Record for the <br />prototype scries of mainline and ramp toll plazas for the <br />Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, Florida, <br />with the mainline plaza having a tunnel beneath the roadway <br />travel lanes to access the tollbooth islands and empty toll <br />collection machines. Ultimately responsible for the subsequent <br />design of more than six mainline plazas 22 ramp plazas <br />throughout the OOCEA system, and the review of other <br />consultants. The mainline and ramp toll plaza design became the <br />Statewide prototype used on the Florida Turnpike. (1988-1991) <br /> <br />5 <br />
