The project included constructing new track and upgrading existing track, installing a new signal system and upgrading existing signals, rehabilitation of a 70-year- old bascule bridge over the Miami River to improve reliability, and environmental remediation of a site for a new station, and design and construction of a new train station. It was originally design in 1949 for thc maintcnance of bombers. 1t was severely damaged by Hurricane Andrcw. As part of the Homcstcad APB realignment, managed the structural evaluation of thc hangar to mcet currcnt building codcs, particularly, wind loading provisions, and developed recommcndations for the strengthcning of the hangar. Evaluatcd the hangar floor slab and concrete apron pavements for various types of aircraft loadings. (1994) ~ o Structural engincer for the evaluation of airport terminals and design of beacon towers, for the Key West and Marathon Airports, Monroe County, Florida. · Toll Road Facilities ,,- '--' o Rcsponsible for the structural review of toll facilities throughout the Florida Turnpike system. (1991-1994) o Project manager and structural Engineer of Record for the prototype scries of mainline and ramp toll plazas for the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, Florida, with the mainline plaza having a tunnel beneath the roadway travel lanes to access the tollbooth islands and empty toll collection machines. Ultimately responsible for the subsequent design of more than six mainline plazas 22 ramp plazas throughout the OOCEA system, and the review of other consultants. The mainline and ramp toll plaza design became the Statewide prototype used on the Florida Turnpike. (1988-1991) 5
