Inc. <br />~IExcEr',oNAL SOlllllONS <br />i <br /> <br />LAKE PARK HARBOR MARINA <br />DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM EVALUATION <br />Lake Park, Florida <br /> <br /> <br />Review and evaluate the entire power distribution system including five electric services, five power <br />distribution units, feeders, 72 pedestals, and voltage drop calculations to each pedestal. <br /> <br />Backaround <br />The management of Lake Park Harbor Marina retained Calvin, Giordano & Associates to evaluate the <br />electrical distribution installation of the Marina located at 105 Lakeshore Drive, Lake Park Florida. The <br />following incidents precipitated the request for evaluation: <br />1) Receptacles in Pedestal caught on fire and damaged the wiring requiring replacement of the <br />receptacle and wiring. <br />2) The motor circuit conductor to the diesel fuel pump melted together, faulted due to insulation <br />failure. <br />3) A microwave on a boat caught on fire. <br />4) Faulty feeder <br />5) Failed circuit breakers, <br /> <br />Recommendations <br />CGA made the following recommendations: <br />1) Voltage and current measurements be taken for the pedestal experiencing the problem <br />2) Boats with electrical loads greater than 40 amperes for single 50A receptacle or 24 amperes for <br />single 30A receptacles should be served from pedestal with larger capacity. <br />Upgrading of the existing circuit breaker in the distribution panel, the feeder and the circuit <br />breakers and receptacles in the pedestals. <br /> <br />11-4344_LAKE PARK HARBOR MARINA <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Client <br /> <br />Town of Lake Park <br /> <br />Contact information <br />at time of project: <br /> <br />Curtis Huggins, SVP <br />(813) 836-8441 <br /> <br />Project Date <br /> <br />2007 <br /> <br />Services Provided <br />Electrical Engineering <br /> <br />Project Costs <br />$15,000,000 <br /> <br />Page 218 <br />
