Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting December 15, 2016 City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br />paid a payment for the low voltage at the October 20, 2016 meeting, and this is the big chunk <br />of FPL, there may be other miscellaneous expenses but this is going to get implemented and <br />energized. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Mayor Scholl said just so the public understands this, Collins Avenue has been torn up for <br />the past eight (8) months and it will be torn up a lot longer. We are putting in conduit piped <br />under the ground to take all the wires down along Collins Avenue and underground them all, <br />not only the power lines but also cable television, the telephone and other utilities that are up <br />on the poles. As part of that we are going to have a new Streetscape with new light posts and <br />new lights along Collins Avenue. Everybody that has called him about holiday decorations, <br />we don't have holiday decorations up because of this project but also the new light posts will <br />accommodate holiday decorations that we can power, then hopefully we will outshine Bal <br />Harbour next year. <br />Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2016-2650 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br />10P. Add -On: <br />A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br />Resolution No. 14-Z-149 to Extend the Time Period to Obtain a Building Permit by <br />Chabad Lubavitch Russian Center of South Florida, Inc., (the "Applicant") for the <br />Project Entitled "488 & 500 Sunny Isles" Located at 488 & 500 Sunny Isles Boulevard in <br />Accordance with Section 265-11 (L) of the City Code; Authorizing the City Manager and the <br />City Attorney to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an <br />Effective Date. <br />Action: [City Clerk's Note: Distributed prior to the meeting.] City Clerk Hines read the <br />title, and Planning and Zoning Director Claudia Hasbun reported that this Application was <br />approved on December 18, 2014, and the Rabbi has requested an extension for another 12 <br />months and he also has mentioned that he might come in, in the next six months, to downsize <br />the design of the project. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Mayor Scholl said he had discussed this with the Rabbi and he might consider downsizing <br />this project a little bit and he was sorry that he could not be here as his father took ill in <br />Russia and he flew to Russia yesterday. Commissioner Aelion said he also spoke to him and <br />he voiced the same sentiments to him. <br />Commissioner Aelion moved and Commissioner Goldman seconded a motion to approve <br />the resolution. Resolution No. 2016-2651 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br />12 <br />
