Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting December 15, 2016 City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br />10E. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Providing an <br />In -Kind Donation to Chabad Russian Center of South Florida for Use of Heritage Park <br />and City Support Personnel for a Community Event on December 29,2016; Authorizing <br />the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an <br />Effective Date. <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Cultural and Community Services Assistant <br />Director Sylvia Flores reported that this event is held annually. They provide all of the actual <br />event needs, and they have requested in-kind as far as using the Park as well as Park services <br />from Park personnel and from Police Services. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Vice Mayor Gatto moved and Commissioner Aelion seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2016-2640 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br />10F. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving <br />an In -Kind Donation to the North Miami Beach Little League in an Amount Not to <br />Exceed $21,925.00 for Use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field to Provide a Recreational <br />Baseball Program for Calendar Year 2017; Authorizing the City Manager To Do All Things <br />Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date. <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Cultural and Community Services Assistant <br />Director Sylvia Flores reported that we receive this request every year. This amount is based <br />upon the schedule that they provided us. The maximum amount of hours and usage will <br />most likely not reach that amount because certain City programs will take priority. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Commissioner Aelion asked if the in-kind is use of the facility, there will be no monetary <br />donation, and Assistant Director Flores said that is correct. <br />Commissioner Svechin moved and Commissioner Aelion seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2016-2641 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br />10G. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving a <br />Charitable Contribution to Miami Beach Marian Towers, Inc., in an Amount Not to <br />Exceed $10,000.00, to Continue to Expand their Educational and Social Programs; <br />Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution: <br />Providing for an Effective Date. <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Mayor Scholl reported that Miami Beach Marian <br />Towers ironically settled here a long time ago, which is why it is called Miami Beach Marian <br />Towers instead of Sunny Isles Beach Marian Towers. It is a non-profit HUD, it is an elderly <br />housing complex here in Sunny Isles Beach and it has over 250 residents, most with limited <br />mobility and resources to lead a social life outside of the complex. They have a big social <br />services and senior infrastructure in Marian Towers and they have a lot of programs to offer <br />quality of life activities for the residents and neighbors.
