Regular City Commission Meeting Summary Minutes

April 18. 2002

City of Sunny Isles Beach. Florida

Commissioner Edelcup moved and Commissioner Kauffman seconded a motion to
approve the resolution. Resolution No. 2002-439 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0
in favor.

10. MOTIONS

None

11. DISCUSSION AND INFORMATION ITEMS

11A. Tentative Dates and Locations for Informal Town Meetings in the Southern and
Northern Areas of the City.

Action: City Clerk Brown-Morilla read the title and Mayor Samson reported.
Commissioner Kauffman suggested waiting to have the meetings until after the summer
when more residents will have returned to the City. There was a consensus to defer
scheduling the meetings until the fall.

lIB. ADD-ON Commissioner Goodman as Chairperson of the Community Traffic Safety
Team & American Disability Act Advisory Committee expressed concerns from the
Committee about the future of having large residential buildings built on the east side of
Collins A venue with the parking on the west side of Collins A venue, thereby causing
considerable traffic flow problems. He mentioned the Aqualina project as an example
where there will be traffic flow problems from the east-side residential building to the
west-side parking garage. He proposed that all new developments be required to provide
their parking on the east side instead of having the parking on the west side of Collins
A venue. Mayor Samson explained the traffic flow problems that the Aqualina project will
cause. Commissioner Goodman also mentioned a traffic problem at the new Millennium
Shopping Center entrances.

Commissioner Goodman also reviewed a traffic problem that exists at the Ocean II
building. Mayor Samson suggested contacting Frank Pratt, who controls traffic lights on
Collins Avenue.

11C. ADD-ON Mayor Samson asked when the Land Development Regulations (LDR's)
would be presented in workshop session for initial review: City Manager Russo said he
wasn't certain.
