For individual organizations, this may <br />be a simple process of asking the vending operator to install appropriate <br />stickers and products. Voila! Done! <br />For a community -wide program, it may be necessary to follow a step -by- <br />step process to ensure the program's success and the support of all <br />stakeholders. <br />Why bother with to launch Fit PickTM with care? <br />• Some people don't like sudden change. By including all stakeholders, <br />your community will be better prepared for the new options that <br />come with Fit PiCkTM. <br />• Some consumers may react negatively If installing Fit PickTM means <br />that their favorite items are deleted from inventory. Encouraging each <br />organization to Include consumers in their planning helps ensure that <br />favorite products are maintained following Fit Pick TM introduction. <br />• If not supported by adequate marketing, it is possible that there could <br />be an initial decrease in vending revenue, which is a concern to <br />vending operators and to those who benefit from commissions. <br />Step 1— Collaborate <br />To start a Fit PickTM community initiative, it is important to identify and <br />include organizations that are leaders in your community's health. Each <br />community will be different, but these organizations could include local <br />medical centers and clinics, public health, youth programs, schools, <br />government agencies, private worksites, faith -based organizations, senior <br />centers, health clubs, and more. You needn't include all, but it is wise to <br />start a collaborative effort with at least two or three strongly committed <br />organizations. <br />It will be necessary to find the right person within each organization to <br />champion the cause of "fit" vending. <br />• Within worksites, start with the human resources manager, wellness <br />coordinator, employee health coordinator, facilities manager, <br />purchasing manager or foodservice director. <br />12 <br />
