such as statics, dynamics, ethics, and engineering economics. She is solely responsible for the curriculum taught and for
administration of exams, quizzes, and other assignments.
COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AREA (CRA) PLAN — CITY OF HAWTHORNE, FL
Project Engineer — This was a project to update the Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Plan for the City of
Hawthorne, Florida. She conducted several site visits to collect data by observation as well as from interviews with the
commissioners, city employees, and other stakeholders in the community. She was responsible for the Facilities and
Service element of the plan; which included assessing and making recommendations on roads, streetscape, parks and
open spaces, water and sewer services, and emergency services. Two presentations were made to the City Council and
attending townspeople on the findings and recommendations.
plan amendments and updates. She completed a data and analysis report for the transportation element of their
comprehensive plan and created all of the supporting materials (such as maps, posters, and brochures) for a
transportation charrette held at City Hall in Zephyrhills. She presented the City of Zephyrhills with a traffic circulation
element planning framework consisting of the specific goals and objectives that would go into their Evaluation and
Appraisal Report. She wrote a summary of events as a case study for a Best Practices in Small City Transportation
Guide.
RE- DESIGNING ORANGE BOWL STADIUM — MIAMI, FL
Student — This design project was to redesign the Orange Bowl in Miami Florida to accommodate both football and
baseball venues. She was responsible for the transportation and parking elements of the project. The two main issues to
address for this stadium were the traffic congestion caused on game days and the lack of parking causing attendees to
park in the nearby residential housing. To alleviate the traffic congestion, Ms. Poe proposed to increase public
transportation to the area and integrated an underground metro rail stop at the stadium. To help the parking problem for
the stadium, she created four parking garages to be situated around the stadium; these structures would also be the
foundation for a retractable roof. The final project was presented to the Mayor of the City of Miami.
