j Traffic CITY OF SUNNY
Engineemg
1 Worth Avenue Restoration, Palm Beach, FL
Kimley -Horn served as site civil and traffic engineer for
this exciting project that was brought to life by a group
of property owners along Worth Avenue who wanted to
revitalize the area and bring it back to its former glory. The
project included:
• Construction of a new roadway section
• Replacement and modification of various underground
utilities
• Replacement of sidewalks with decorative tabby
concrete
• Landscaping and architectural elements throughout the
corridor
ISLES BEACH
Services
Traffic Signal System Design, Palm Beach County, FL
i This project involved the completion of design for the installation of 101 traffic signals in the first phase of Palm
Beach County's computerized signal system. The project included the development of plans and specifications for
all hardware and software, and a complete communications system, including projection TV display and remote
traffic sensors. The project team also designed special lighting, air conditioning, and fire protection features for the
system's control center.
Surveying Subconsultant
Caulfield & Wheeler, Inc. will provide surveying services. Caulfield & Wheeler provides professional land surveying
services throughout South Florida, including Miami -Dade County. Projects include numerous design surveys for
governmental agencies, new construction and redevelopment projects, retail and mixed -use center revitalization
and modifications, municipal centers and parks, prestigious planned -unit development and residential projects,
and various schools and universities.
Caulfield & Wheeler is one of the largest surveying providers in South Florida, with eight RTK/GPS survey crews.
Project services provided range from design, as- built, boundary, topographic, tree, and design surveys; submerged
land leases; mean high water and beach restoration surveys; final construction layout; and as- builting of completed
improvements. Numerous route and location surveys have been performed for the design of roadway, water, sewer,
drainage, and utility systems.
Caulfield & Wheeler also uses powerful new technology to provide high- definition 3 -D laser scans and digital
photographic backgrounds of existing and proposed improvements. This allows survey accurate locations of both
horizontal and vertical surfaces and objects, as well as panoramic viewing or rotation of images, and drive or fly
through videos of the scanned areas. This greatly enhances the accuracy of the data used in the planning and
design phases of a project and is also a valuable tool for verifying construction phases and as -built information
for a project. All roadway improvements, building setbacks, sides, features, and heights; free - standing walls or
structures, fences, utility poles, and heights of overhead lines; and trees, shrubs, and other vegetation are located
in a 3 -D model which is used to give an exact survey location of the improvements. Work can be performed either
in the daytime or nighttime. Another valuable benefit of laser scanning is that it provides greater safety during
the surveying process. The instrument can be set off to the side of busy roadways for locations without having
PPI i Kimley -Horn
TR300016411 -0 _ SunnylsfesBch —Tri icEngServs.indd Page 2 -8 \ m and Associates.
