J <br /> <br />APPROACH / MEfHODOLOGY <br /> <br />Craig A. Smith & Associates (CAS) is uniquely qualified to perform all professional services <br />required for the complete design development for the construction of a drainage system along <br />174th Street from Collins Avenue west to just beyond the first complex curve. <br /> <br />In summary CAS is best suited and qualified to provide professional services in-house for the City's <br />174th Street Stormwater Project. Stormwater improvement projects involve: <br /> <br />. Surveying; <br />. Engineering Design of Stormwater Conveyance, Treatment and Disposal/Discharge; <br />. Engineering Design of Pipelines within Developed Urban Areas; <br />. Roadway Design; <br />. Utility Locating and Mapping prior to Design; <br />. Permitting through DERM; <br />. Construction Management. <br /> <br />CAS provides all of these services in-house and is currently providing similar services to Bal <br />Harbour Village and the Town of Golden Beach. Through the use of our unique 3D Radar <br />Tomography and our familiarity with the City and surrounding area, we are best suited for this <br />project. <br /> <br />Our firm's primary expertise lies in stormwater system design and pipeline design including <br />development of pipeline construction plans. CAS is typically involved with over one hundred (100) <br />miles of pipeline replacements each year. Our capability in pipeline design, permitting and <br />construction management is evidenced by our commitment to Stormwater Engineering using our <br />exclusive SUE capabilities - Utility Locating, Mapping and Surveying - the three disciplines <br />required for pipeline design and construction. CAS provides all of these services in-house from our <br />office in nearby Boca Raton. <br /> <br />CAS offers 3D Radar Scanning, a technology no other firm can offer that saves time and money <br />as well as serves to prevent liabilities for our clients. More importantly 3D technology protects the <br />citizens, visitors and businesses of our clients by preventing disruptions of the City's and private <br />utility services. <br /> <br />Because of our commitment to SUE, CAS acquired MPS3D, our wholly owned affiliate, with its <br />exclusive 3D Radar Scanning license and patented underground mapping equipment capable of <br />identifying and differentiating the types of pipes and other objects underground. CAS provides <br />CADD printouts to our clients in three dimensions. This will allow the City's construction <br />contractors to avoid problems when they dig, Our firm is capable of preparing base maps for <br />design through the use of above ground surveying and underground surveying that is delivered to <br />our clients signed and sealed with guaranteed accuracy. In addition, CAS only uses in-house <br />qualified professionals operating on a daily basis out of our Boca Raton office. All work is under <br />our direct supervision and control. <br /> <br />Our 3D scanning is non-intrusive and maps all underground utilities and facilities with 100% <br />coverage of the rights of way to be used for construction. The scanning is ground truthed with <br />other conventional tools and equipment providing CAS and the City with the most accurate data <br />possible to prepare designs and begin construction plans.
