The project must be cost feasible with respect to the selected drainage solution.
We will investigate the potential for interconnecting existing drainage outfalls to
distribute peak runoff and thereby reduce flood stages and time of inundation.
Other potential solutions may include the use of one-way valves to limit surcharges
during high tides. We propose to conduct a TV inspection of the existing drainage
network early in the design phase to determine if there are any quick solutions
(such as vacuuming of storm drains) to provide short term relief while the
permanent improvements are designed and constructed.

2. The design must be permittable within a reasonable timeframe. Early and ongoing
coordination with key regulatory personnel is crucial to keeping the project moving
forward. Please refer to the section below regarding coordination with other
governmental agencies regarding CTA's comprehensive approach to interacting
with regulators.

3. Construction project activities must be sensitive to pedestrian and vehicular
movements within the corridor and nearby residential areas. This can be
accomplished with a comprehensive set of construction drawings and specifications
that will include requirements related to:

a. limiting lane closures to less than one day and outside of peak traffic
periods.

b. Requiring safe, contiguous and available pedestrian pathways throughout
the construction lone.

c. Requiring strict adherence with the City's "limitation on Construction
Notice" ordinance.

OVERALL ORGANIZATION TO COMPLETING THE PROJECT

Craven Thompson & Associates' project management style is client-centric and results-
driven. It involves the following key components:

1.

Actively listen to understand the City's expectations

This process of active listening is carried throughout the project assignment via
personal meetings, written communications, and formal submittals. The intent is
to: 1) listen without pre-judging or developing a recommended solution; 2) provide
feedback to confirm if what we understood is in fact what was intended to be
heard; 3) evaluate the sender's comments or requests; 4) and then provide a
response or solution.

CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC.
ENGINEERING - SURVEYING - LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE - PLANNING

411
