The Esplanade Park was designed as an anchor and <br />centerpiece to the city's Arts & Science District, a major <br />revitalization project, The $1.7 million project was completed in <br />1991 in conjunction with nearly $2 million in streetscape <br />improvements throughout the District. <br /> <br />Biscayne National Park Master Plan and Architectural <br />Design, Miami-Dade County, FL <br />Mr, Pruett was Principal-In-Charge for the master planning and <br />architectural design of all new facilities constructed by the <br />National Park Service at Biscayne National Park in southern <br />Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Master Planning process <br />included extensive interpretive planning to integrate the story of <br />Biscayne National Park - both its history and natural resources <br />into the design of planned new facilities. New facilities <br />constructed included a Headquarters Building, Maintenance <br />Building, new Visitor Center and two Ranger Housing units, The <br />buildings, with metal roofs and cedar siding, were specifically <br />designed to evoke early Florida coastal architecture of the <br />nineteenth century, <br /> <br />Everglades National Park Shark Valley Visitor Center <br />Miami-Dade / Collier Counties, FL <br />Mr, Pruett was principal-in-Charge for several planning and design <br />assignments at Everglades National Park. These included a new <br />site master plan for visitor and concessionaire facilities and <br />parking at the Shark Valley visitor center, and smaller <br />improvement projects at several locations within the park, Mr, <br />Pruett also provided planning input for the replacement of Visitor <br />facilities at Flamingo, including dock and concession facilities, as <br />well as lodging and camping facilities. <br /> <br />Terramar Park <br />Parkland, FL. <br />Mr. Pruett was Principal-In-Charge and project architect for <br />facility improvements associated with Terramar Park, the City of <br />Parkland's first major community park. The $3,6S million project <br />included a fully equipped Concession building, provided by the <br />City for local leagues' use, An octagonal Pressbox building was <br />developed in the center of the park's main baseball complex. In <br />addition a small existing structure at the park's south end was <br />renovated to match the new buildings, improving its durability <br />and appearance, and which serves as restrooms for the new <br />tennis complex. <br /> <br />Downtown Mangrove Nature Park <br />Boynton Beach, FL <br />Mr. Pruett was the Principal-In-Charge for the design of this <br />unique park, which consists of a 2,000 foot long elevated walkway <br />system stretching through a mangrove preserve, The walkway <br />includes a series of interpretive exhibits to educate visitors about <br />the important and sensitive mangrove ecosystem and its unique <br />flora and fauna. Perhaps most significant about the project was <br />the use of pre-fabricated aluminum walkway components, Use of <br />these units allowed the walkway to be constructed largely by <br />hand, with minimal impact to the Mangroves. <br /> <br />Ocean View Park <br />Norfolk, VA <br />Ocean View Park is a 9-acre tract along the Chesapeake Bay, just <br />west of the Atlantic Ocean, The program for the park included <br />both active and passive recreational areas, with a key feature a <br />3,000-person amphitheater and bandshell. Mr. Pruett was <br />principal-In-Charge for the design of the bandshell and restroom <br />buildings, which were deSigned in a traditional gabled roof, <br /> <br />Curtis + Rogers Design Studio <br /> <br />shingle-style to reflect the historic coastal style of architecture in <br />the region, <br /> <br />Fairchild Tropical Garden Facilities Development Concept <br />Plan, Miami, FI <br />As part of the overall master plan for the future development and <br />enhancement of Fairchild Tropical Garden, Mr. Pruett led the <br />effort to program and re-configure the existing visitor, <br />administrative and educational facilities of the garden to improve <br />overall functions and provide additional space, A major <br />component of the plan was the proposed relocation and <br />expansion of the book/gift shop, which is to be accomplished with <br />relocation of the main visitor entrance, <br /> <br />McKee Botanical Garden Master Plan and Architectural <br />Design, Vera Beach, FI <br />Mr, Pruett was Principal-In-Charge for the preparation of the <br />concept plan for garden restoration and the master plan for <br />future site development. In this effort, Mr. Pruett assisted in <br />evaluating alternative site locations for new visitor and <br />administration facilities, pedestrian circulation and parking <br />facilities, Mr. Pruett also led the preparation of the architectural <br />design of all new garden facilities proposed to be constructed on <br />the site including a visitor reception area, book/gift shop, garden <br />cafe, meeting/classroom building and maintenance structures <br /> <br />The Naples Botanical Garden Master Plan <br />Naples, FL <br />The master plan for the Naples Botanical Garden was developed <br />to take advantage of the site's range of vegetation - including <br />endangered coastal scrub, typical southwest Florida pine <br />flatwoods, mangrove swamp and freshwater wetlands, <br />interwoven with plants from around the world, The plan was <br />developed to provide diverse sensory experiences ranging from <br />educational garden strolls, tram and boat rides to interactive <br />exhibits and cultural display pavilions that highlight the many <br />cultural uses of plants, A broad message of the benefits of <br />sustainable design, cultural- and bio-diversity was also <br />incorporated in the physical design, Mr. Pruett led the planning <br />and design team for the preparation of the Master Plan, <br /> <br />Heritage Monument Trail Master Plan <br />Islamorada, FL <br />Mr, Pruett participated as one of several subconsultants on a <br />team that developed an interpretive trail as well as site-specific <br />improvements for the Hurricane Monument, a memorial to <br />victims of the 1937 labor Day Storm, and nearby sites throughout <br />the village of Islamorada, <br /> <br />INSTITUTIONAL PLANNING AND DESIGN <br />Mr. Pruett has extensive experience in master planning <br />and design for cultural and environmental - related <br />institutions. <br /> <br />Selected Project Experience: <br />Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve <br />Naples, FL <br />Mr, Pruett was Principal-In-Charge for this project which included <br />the design of a new headquarters building and Environmental <br />Education Center, The work included evaluation of potential <br />building sites within the reserve, The Environmental Education <br />Center includes a visitor interpretive center, laboratories for the <br />research staff of the Reserve, and an educational wing for the <br />Reserve's Coastal Training Institute. <br /> <br />RFQ 12-04-04 <br /> <br />46 <br />
