AECOM

Design + Planning
Masterplanning
Landscape Architecture + Urban Design

Studio: Orlando

Barnett Family Park

These services were provided by AECOM
professionals during their employment
with Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin, Inc.

The main design theme for the park is
"discovery" of the natural wonders
found within and surrounding the City of \
Lakeland. Creative play environments
allow for visitors to learn about the
fascinating plants and animals found
nearby by climbing on kid-sized insects,
guessing the answers to puzzles and
finding different types of "critters" on
the art walls.

Giant frogs, spiders, bees, inch-worms,
ants and dragon flies are designed for
climbing and are integrated with
playground equipment that resemble a
spider's web, a bee hive and an inch
worm's body. The interactive water
fountain is surrounded by a series of
tile mosaic murals that offer a
wonderful display of native flora and
fauna. Alligators, panthers,
grasshoppers, humming birds, herons,
bears, large-mouth bass and
butterflies are all part of the mosaic.

I n addition to the interactive water
fountain and the bug-themed
playground, Barnett Family Park also
has a labyrinth, a great open lawn, and
a new community building. The
successful design of the Park has
created a unique and wonderful play
place in downtown Lakeland.

Project size: 4 acres

Lakecland, FL, USA
Client: City of Lakeland

City of Sunny Isles Beach I Design & Permitting Services of the Intracoastal Parks RFQ No. 12-04-04

31

A;:COM
