To
enhance the connection between the Opera
House and the Concert Hall, we proposed an
oval plaza spanning Biscayne Boulevard
articulated with rings of plantings, water
and unique paving patterns reminiscent of
Miami's multiple cultures.

The fountain, which is a collaboration with
artist Anna Murch, creates a magical space
for special outdoor performances. AECOM
and Balmori Associates worked together on
the design of public spaces and landscape
architecture. By preserving the historic
Sears Tower and adapting its base for use as
a small restaurant, this highly visible anchor
to the public plaza continues to serve as a
city landmark.

36

City of Sunny Isles Beach I Design & Permitting Services of the Intracoastal Parks RFQ No, 12-04-04

k-cOM
