<br />CH~RE <br /> <br />) &ASSOCIAlTS <br /> <br />This project also required extensive <br />coordination with the public, adjacent CRAs, <br />historic districts and various regulatory <br />agencies. <br /> <br />Fort Lauderdale South Beach Parking Lot <br />Wall Replacement and ADA <br />Improvements. Chen Moore Associates was <br />asked to provide the restoration and <br />enhancement of the City-owned 6.5 acres <br />"South Beach" parking lot, located along SR <br />AlA, south of Las alas Boulevard. The scope <br />of work includes bringing the parking lot into <br />ADA compliance per requirement of the <br />consent decree, replacing a deteriorating low <br />profile wall and sidewalk approximately 2100 <br />feet in length, designing for easier vehicle and <br />pedestrian ingress/egress, replacing existing <br />lighting with turtle-compliant fixtures, and <br />designing additional landscaping. Chen Moore <br />and Associates is tasked to gain all necessary <br />permit approvals to move forward with <br />construction documents as well as coordinate <br />'^lith FP&l for the undergrounding of overhead <br />)ires. <br /> <br />Deerfield Beach Main Beach Parking Area <br />Improvements. Chen Moore and Associates <br />provided conceptual planning to address <br />traffic circulation, landscaping, lighting, <br />parking layout, drainage and existing facility <br />conditions. The conceptual plan has <br />incorporated additional areas for pedestrian <br />use including seating areas and multi-use <br />areas for special events. The project is <br />located in a coastal zone requiring <br />coordination and permitting through the <br />Florida Department of Environmental <br />Protection for work east of the Coastal <br />Construction Control Line (CCCl). There is <br />also a fire station on the site requiring close <br />coordination with the City of Deerfield Beach <br />Fire Department to facilitate emergency <br />response. <br /> <br />Boynton Beach Oceanfront Park. <br />Oceanfront Park is the only beach access <br /> <br />point for the City of Boynton Beach. The <br />existing park boardwalk and amenities <br />needed to be updated due to the general <br />degradation of the property. The project <br />required permitting through the Town of <br />Ocean Ridge Building Department, City of <br />Boynton Beach Utilities Department, Florida <br />Fish and Wildlife Commission, Palm Beach <br />County Department of Environmental <br />Resource Management, and the Florida <br />Department of Environmental Protection for <br />work east of the Coastal Construction Control <br />Line (CCCl). The resulting design of the park <br />incorporated 1,000 feet of new boardwalk <br />with dune crossovers, tension membrane <br />shade structures, landscaping, dune <br />plantings, rope and bollard beach access <br />points, and site furnishings. The site was <br />brought fully to compliance with the <br />Americans with Disabilities Act, Mr. <br />Betancourt served as the project manager for <br />the project and was responsible for surveying, <br />site planning, permitting, hardscape, <br />landscape, irrigation, and construction <br />administration. This project represents Mr. <br />Betancourt's experience while employed with <br />another firm. <br /> <br />Ft. Pierce South Beach Park. South Beach <br />Park was destroyed during the Treasure Coast <br />Hurricane events of 2004-2005. The <br />approximately 10-acre park was restored <br />using FEMA funds provided to the City of Ft. <br />Pierce for redevelopment of the park. The <br />design and layout of the park were <br />reconfigured in order to improve service to <br />the public. The program included recycled <br />lumber deck, parking lot redesign, picnic <br />pavilions, bathrooms, entry signage, public <br />open spaces, sea turtle friendly lighting, rope <br />and bollard beach access points, landscaping, <br />dune plantings, and sand dune fencing. The <br />project required permitting through the City <br />of Ft. Pierce Building and Utilities <br />departments, Florida Fish and Wildlife <br />Commission and the Florida Department of <br />Environmental Protection for work east of the <br />Coastal Construction Control Line (CCCl).
