Atkins | Stone Mountain CID <br />Planning and Urban Design | 3-9 <br />Atkins | City of Sunny Isles Beach, RFQ No. 12-04-020006.027944.0512 <br />Buck Lake Road Corridor, Leon County, FL. Mr. Haight completed a long-range <br />transportation study of the Buck Lake Road corridor in Leon County. The study included <br />broad citizen participation efforts and an extensive study of drainage and fl ooding issues and <br />development of stormwater management recommendations, as well as the traditional project <br />development and environment traffi c and environmental studies. The study used several <br />innovative approaches to citizen participation and served as a pilot project for the Leon County <br />Public Participation Program, P-Squared. <br />SouthWood Development of Regional Impact (DRI), SouthWood, FL. Mr. Haight served <br />as project manager for the SouthWood DRI application and PUD application processes. He <br />assisted the developer, Arvida, with management of all aspects of the development review <br />process for the 3,200-acre mixed-use residential, commercial, offi ce, institutional, and industrial <br />development. Assistance included development of the Southwood Planned Unit Development <br />(PUD) application, amendments to the Southeast Sector Plan portion of the comprehensive <br />plan, and review and assistance with numerous public meetings. <br />Blanding Boulevard Corridor Study, Orange Park, Jacksonville/Duval County, Florida. <br />Preparation of land use and visualization sketches for the introduction of complete streets <br />and context sensitive design treatments for a major corridor study for Blanding Boulevard for <br />the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization. Work included areawide planning <br />concepts for major intersections along the corridor. Placemaking urban design guiding principles <br />were conceptualized with the intent of transforming a suburban commercial corridor to <br />provide pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use, destination districts oriented toward and serving the <br />surrounding neighborhoods. Access management, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, and landscape <br />and streetscape enhancements were proposed in the fi nal recommendations. <br />Preliminary Concept Landscape Planning for the Pensacola Bayfront Parkway Median <br />Landscape. An FDOT-funded JPA project incorporating native landscape materials will redefi ne <br />the entrance corridor to downtown Pensacola. <br />Mr. Haight was Planner-In-Residence and professor of urban planning in the Florida <br />State University Department of Urban and Regional Planning, from 1988 to 1993, where he <br />taught courses titled Planning of Community Infrastructure, Site Design and Land Use Analysis, <br />Introduction to Planning and Community Development, Introduction to Growth Management <br />and Comprehensive Planning, Planning Process and Plan Development, Advanced Planning <br />Problems Studio, Special Topics in Growth Management and Comprehensive Planning: Land <br />Use Planning, and Professional Topics Seminar. Since 2009 Mr. Haight has taught similar <br />courses as an adjunct at FSU-Panama City, including URP 3000 Introduction to Planning <br />and Community Development, and URP 4314 Introduction to Growth Management and <br />Comprehensive Planning. He recently taught URP 4710 Introduction to Transportation Planning <br />and Transportation Issues in the summer 2011 semester and URP 3000 again in the Fall 2011 <br />semester.
