SGM Engineering, Inc.
City of Sunny Isles Beach RFP No. 12-04-02
Continuing Professional Architectural & Engineering Services
Firms Only (CCNA)
Section 4 – Approach and Methodology

1. High-growth engineering firm
with a diversity of talent,
expertise, and experience
2. 26 employees and an
enthusiastic embrace of
leading-edge technology
3. Well respected mechanical,
electrical, communications,
and technology systems
engineering firm
4. Responsive to our clients
5. Cost effective; to serve as a
strategic partner in support of
our clients' mission and
service
Why choose SGM?

To assure total commitment to quality, SGM has established a procedure, documents and statistically records the
progress in order to continually improve the production process.

Methodology
Since 1991, SGM has a proven record of managing the projects in areas of mechanical and electrical engineering
issues. SGM is committed to deliver designed quality on time and assisting the City of Sunny Isles Beach through
Construction Administration and completion of each individual project.

SGM understands that projects under continuing services contracts are often short fused, complicated
renovations requiring minimal downtime of the facility. SGM has an understanding o f the requirements needed
for this contract. Our team understands that at any moment we may receive an urgent phone call asking us to
immediately visit a job site and troubleshoot a problem which might result in the closure of a critical facility unless
we respond with solutions immediately. We also understand that we need to be readily available at all times
during the construction phase of one of our projects to address problems as they arise.

It is our hope that the City of Sunny Isles Beach will consider SGM to fulfill their Mechanical and Electrical
Engineering Consulting needs for the Continuing Contracts for Professional Architectural and Engineering Services.
We are confident that you will find our firm to be knowledgeable and competent, as has b een proven by our track
record during the past twenty years in business. SGM supports the best interest of the City by ensuring that projects
are completed on time and within budget.

Our resources, combined knowledge, and experience will allow us to be flexible
and cost effective. The timing of these projects for Engineering Consulting
Services is perfect for our team to have the ability to commit as soon as the notice
to proceed is issued. Our team has completed numerous projects at various sites
across the State of Florida and abroad, and is capable of performing multiple
projects concurrently. We have evaluated our current workload over the course of
this year and the time frame of this contract, and have determined that SGM has
the resources available to immediately begin work on these assignments.

Our design excellence has been recognized and awarded by Florida State -
Governor’s Energy Office for outstanding Mechanical Engineering Designs for
Higher Education projects. Also, SGM was recognized by Flor ida Tax Watch Inc,
for outstanding Mechanical Engineering designs for Higher Education projects,
which resulted in substantial energy saving for State & Government Facilities.

SGM’s professional engineering staff has over 20 years of experience in design
and construction of Florida projects. The Florida environment is unique, and our
staff’s hands on design and construction experience provide the knowledge to
solve engineering problems that arise in Florida’s environment.

SGM utilizes state of the art technologies to analyze and determine the fundamental catalysts that cause IAQ
problems. In order to analyze and diagnose a building effectively, SGM embraces the usage of data loggers, (which
monitor temperature, relative humidity and dewpoint), moisture m eters (which measures the percentage of moisture
in porous building materials relative to a dry sample of the same material) and micro -manometers (which provides
pressure readings of a space relative to an adjacent space). These tools, coupled with sound e ngineering judgment
have allowed SGM engineers to adequately diagnose buildings with “sick building syndrome”, mold and mildew
problems, etc.

Cost Control
SGM has an outstanding record of performing professional services on time and within budget with a v ariety of
educational clients. SGM has over 21 years of service in the State of Florida and has played a large role in the
growth of the area’s energy cost savings projects. Our extensive knowledge and relationships with the local
governments ensures a quality and cost effective project for the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
