This includes the <br />adjustment of the controllers to insure the correct amount of precipitation necessary for <br />viable vegetative growth, always following any South Florida Water Management District <br />drought guidelines. Contractor is to perform monthly wet tests, to verify viability of <br />system, on the last Wednesday of each month. On the first day of each month report to <br />City, in writing, indicating proper operation of each zone, required repairs, additional <br />costs and updated run time per zone. Contractor shall ensure that all irrigation systems <br />have 100% coverage with 50% overlap. <br />3.5 PESTICIDES AND FERTILIZERS <br />Any item dealing specifically with pesticides and fertilizers shall be reviewed by the vendor in <br />accordance to the specifications made part of this RFP. Vendor shall apply fertilizers and <br />insecticides in accordance with the specifications and at a rate required to ensure that the <br />landscaping and lawn areas are healthy and vigorous. Failure by the vendor to provide adequate <br />fertilizer and /or insecticide shall constitute a failure to properly maintain landscaping. Resulting <br />foliage or landscaping damage occasioned by such failure, as determined by the City, shall be <br />replaced immediately by the vendor at no cost to the City. Aerial spraying of trees, with the <br />exception of Royal Palms, is prohibited (Unless otherwise directed by the City). <br />Fertilizer and insect /disease control materials shall be applied at the rates established by accepted <br />horticultural standards, manufacturer's recommendations, by certified specialists, and as approved <br />by City. Contractor shall provide a list of suppliers for the fertilizer / insect control materials for <br />approval by the City. <br />3.5.1 LAWN <br />For control of fire ants, use Award Fire Ant Killer. Follow manufacturer's <br />instructions for applications amounts and rates. <br />February Apply granular 20 -0 -20 with Atrazine or approved equal; <br />St. Augustine 'Floratam' Sod and Argentine' Bahia Sod. <br />May Apply liquid 16 -4 -8 with micro - nutrients and Telstar or <br />equal insect control. <br />September Apply liquid 16 -4 -8 with micro - nutrients and Telstar or <br />equal insect control. <br />December Apply granular 20 -0 -10 with Atrazine. <br />The Spring thru Fall Application rates for lawn areas will vary according to <br />weather and environmental conditions, but typically <br />average 75 granular pounds per 1000 sq. ft. <br />3.5.2 TREES <br />Three applications per year of 13 -3 -13 granular fertilizer or approved equal. <br />3.5.3 SHRUBS AND GROUNDCOVER <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach I Request for Proposal No. 12 -05 -01 <br />
