3.5.9 <br />3.5.10 <br />`''Y or sw4 I,- <br />All herbicide applications will be applied only by a State of Florida and Dade <br />County licensed pesticide applicator. Proof of license must be supplied to City <br />prior to start of work. <br />WEED CONTROL <br />Maintain all tree and shrub beds in a weed free condition by hand pulling or <br />chemical control, at each maintenance visit. For trees and palms within lawn <br />area, spray area 2" away from trunk with Round -up by Monsanto Manufacturing <br />Company. Do not spray tree leaves, suckers, or open wounds. Do not use <br />weed -eater or string trimmers for trees and palms within lawn area in order to <br />avoid trunk damage. No green weeds shall be visible in any landscape beds on <br />the final day of each month. <br />All weeds that appear within sidewalk or curbing expansion joints are to be <br />continually controlled through the use of herbicide. <br />INSECT CONTROL <br />Preventive spraying for insect control shall adhere to the following guidelines. <br />Lawn: Spray all lawn and athletic field areas as required, for <br />control of all chinch bugs, army worms, sod webworm, <br />fungus, fire ants, and other pests. Spraying shall be <br />accomplished (at Contractor's expense) by State of <br />Florida and Dade County licensed pesticide control <br />individual or company, using Integrated Pest <br />Management Principles. <br />Shrubs: Spray shrubs and ground cover (excluding <br />bougainvillea), as needed, with insecticide. Follow <br />manufacturer's instructions for application, using <br />Integrated Pest Management Principles. <br />OTC (Lethal Yellowing) <br />injections: Upon evidence of lethal yellowing and after consultation <br />with the City, immediately begin (4) gram injection, per <br />palm, of OTC tree injection formula (Tree Saver Inc. or <br />equal). Follow manufacturer's recommendations re: <br />injection method and frequency. <br />Red Eye Royal Palm <br />Bug: Upon evidence of deterioration of the head of the palm, <br />begin a 5 gallon per palm soil drench with Merrit soil <br />drench.
