1. Once a design for any class of concrete is accepted, it shall not be varied as <br /> to source, quantity, grading of materials, proportioning, or in any other way. <br /> 2. Proposed changes shall be accomplished by preparing and having approved <br /> a new design mix as specified above. <br /> • <br /> 3. Determine the chloride content of the component concrete materials, <br /> excluding admixtures for concrete and provide this information to the <br /> Engineer when submitting mix design. Design mixes will not be approved <br /> when the sum of chloride content of component materials indicates that the <br /> concrete mix derived from those materials will have a chloride content <br /> exceeding 0.40 pound per cubic yard of concrete. When the source of any <br /> component material for the concrete is changed or when the design mixes is <br /> altered, a chloride content determination test shall be made immediately. <br /> Resubmit the altered design mix for approval by the Engineer. <br /> B. Sampling and Testing: Concrete ingredients will be sampled prior to use and tested <br /> in accordance with the methods specified. Subsequently, materials will be tested as <br /> often as necessary to verify that the materials conform to the specifications and that <br /> quality of product is maintained. <br /> C. Slump: Quantity of water in concrete shall be based upon w/c ratio and slump <br /> described in 1.02-A-2. Add super plasticizers to achieve the workable slump <br /> described below. <br /> Vibrated <br /> Placing <br /> 1. Concrete slab on grade 0 to 6 inches <br /> 2. Unreinforced concrete other 0 to 6 than above inches <br /> 3. Reinforced concrete (U.N.O.) 5-1/2 inches <br /> 4. Reinforced concrete deck 5 inches <br /> 5. Concrete placed by pumping 1 to 6 inches <br /> D. Air Entrainment: The entrained air content shall be 6 + 1%. <br /> 1.04 SUBMITTALS: In accordance with Division 1, SHOP DRAWINGS, PRODUCT DATA AND <br /> SAMPLES, submit the following: <br /> A. Design Mixes: Design mixes for each class of concrete indicating that the concrete <br /> ingredients and proportions will result in a concrete mix meeting the requirements <br /> specified. <br /> 08/12 03305-3 11-4179 <br />
