(1) Order a state criminal record search (VECHS). <br /> (2) If applicable to the position of the employee, order a driving record report. <br /> (3) Verify the applicant's past employment history and, if applicable, education <br /> credentials and credit report. <br /> (4) Get the following information from the applicant: <br /> • Convictions of crimes including type, date, and penalty imposed; <br /> • Whether or not the applicant was a defendant in a civil action for an <br /> intentional tort, including the nature and disposition of the action. <br /> 6) The City Manager, in coordination with the Human Resources Director, to confirm <br /> the salary to be offered and any special conditions that will apply, makes a verbal <br /> offer of employment to the candidate. If accepted, the Human Resources Director <br /> prepares a conditional offer of employment letter for the City Manager's signature <br /> that includes information regarding salary, benefits, start date, employment-at-will <br /> status, and a pre-employment physical. <br /> 7) The employee is further advised to report to a pre-assigned location as notified by <br /> the Human Resources Director to complete employment papers and receive a new <br /> employee orientation. The HR Department is responsible for orientation of new <br /> employees and the processing of their employment forms; the supervisor is <br /> responsible for any necessary job training and department orientation. <br /> 8) A member of an employee's immediate family may be considered for employment <br /> by the City if the applicant possesses all the qualifications for employment and <br /> provided the employment does not violate Florida's hiring statutes. <br /> 9) Former employees who left the City in good standing may be considered for <br /> reemployment. Former employees who resigned without written notice or who <br /> were terminated for cause or allowed to resign in lieu of disciplinary action may not <br /> be considered for reemployment. <br /> a) A former employee who is reemployed (regular appointment) after a one (1) <br /> year or more break in service will be considered a new employee from the <br /> date of reemployment. <br /> b) If the break in service is less than thirty (30) days, the employee will retain <br /> accumulated seniority. <br /> CODING: Words stricken are deletions,words underlined are additions. <br /> 203-1 Hiring Page 4 of 5 <br /> 49 <br />
