City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> Personnel Policy and Procedure <br /> Policy Name SMOKING <br /> Policy Number 606:1 <br /> Effective Date 10/1/04 <br /> Revision Date(s) 5/18/17 <br /> Prepared By, Title Human Resources Director <br /> Approved By, Title City Manager <br /> POLICY: <br /> It is the policy of the City to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations <br /> regarding smoking in the workplace and to provide a smoke-free work environment that <br /> promotes productivity and the well-being of its employees. For the purposes of this policy: <br /> Smoking is defined as the following: use of smoke-producing tobacco or non-tabacco <br /> products, such as cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, mini-cigars, hookah, e-cigarettes or vapinq <br /> device. <br /> SCOPE: <br /> All City Employees, City vendors, City contractors, City customers, and City visitors. <br /> PROCEDURE: <br /> 1) The City recognizes that smoking in the workplace can adversely affect <br /> employees. Accordingly, smoking is prohibited inside all City facilities, work areas, <br /> and vehicles. <br /> 2) The Human Resources Director is responsible for implementing and monitoring <br /> smoking regulations, and supervisors are expected to enforce the regulations. The <br /> smoking policy applies to employees during working time and to vendors, <br /> contractors, and visitors inside City facilities, City work areas and City vehicles. <br /> 3) The City does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of their use of legal <br /> products, such as tobacco, if the use occurs during nonworking time and off of <br /> the City's premises.
