3. Certain employees may be required to meet special dress, grooming, and hygiene <br /> standards, such as wearing uniforms, depending on the nature of their job. <br /> 4. At its discretion, the City may allow employees to dress in a more casual fashion <br /> than is normally required. On these occasions, employees are still expected to <br /> present a neat appearance and are not permitted to wear ripped or disheveled <br /> clothing, athletic wear, or similarly inappropriate clothing as stated in this policy. <br /> 5. Employees having a conflict with any aspect of this policy, based on cultural, <br /> religious traditions or medical reasons may request an exemption. The employee <br /> must place the request in writing to the Human Resources Department. <br /> 6. Department Directors, subject to the approval of the City Manager, may establish <br /> a more specific dress code for their Department that is consistent with the intent of <br /> the portrayal of a professional image at all times. Appropriate clothing for the iob <br /> duties should be the primary consideration. <br /> 7. Any employee who does not meet the standards of this policy will be required to <br /> take corrective action, which may include leaving the premises. Non-exempt <br /> employees (those employees subject to the minimum wage and overtime <br /> requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act) will not be compensated for any <br /> work time missed because of failure to comply with this policy.
