<br />3.05 GRADING <br /> <br />A. Grading shall be performed at places indicated in the Drawings, to the lines, <br />grades and elevations shown or as directed by the ENGINEER and shall be <br />made in a manner that the requirements for formation of embankments can be <br />followed. <br /> <br />B. Unacceptable material encountered, of whatever nature within the limits <br />indicated, shall be removed and disposed of as directed. <br /> <br />C. During the process of excavation, the grade shall be maintained in a well <br />drained condition. <br /> <br />1. When directed, temporary drains and drainage ditches shall be installed to <br />intercept or divert surface water which may affect the prosecution or <br />condition of the work. <br /> <br />D. If at the time of excavation it is not possible to place material in its proper <br />section of the permanent structure, it shall be stockpiled in approved areas for <br />later use. <br /> <br />E. No extras will be considered for the stockpiling or double handling of excavated <br />material. <br /> <br />F. The right is reserved to make minute adjustments or revisions in lines or grades <br />if found necessary as the work progresses, due to discrepancies in the <br />Drawings or in order to obtain satisfactory construction. <br /> <br />G. Stones or rock fragments larger than 1-inch in their greatest dimensions will not <br />be permitted in the top 6-inches of the subgrade line of fills or embankments. <br /> <br />H. Fill slopes shall be uniformly dressed to the slope, cross-section and alignment <br />shown in the Drawings, or as directed by the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />I. In cut, loose, or protruding rocks on the back slopes shall be barred loose or <br />otherwise removed to line or finished grade of slope. <br /> <br />J. Cut and fill slopes shall be uniformly dressed to the slope, cross-section and <br />alignment shown in the Drawings or as specified by the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />K. No grading is to be done in areas where there are existing pipe lines that may <br />be uncovered or damaged until these lines which must be maintained are <br />relocated, or where lines are to be abandoned, required valves are closed and <br />drains plugged at manholes. <br /> <br />L.
