PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 WORKMANSHIP <br /> <br />A. Bars shall be accurately fabricated, carefully placed as indicated in the <br />Drawings, securely supported and fastened to prevent movement or <br />displacement during the pouring of the concrete. <br /> <br />B. Placement of reinforcing shall conform to the requirements of "CRSI <br />Recommended Practice for Placing of Reinforcing Bars". <br /> <br />C. Splices shall be in accordance with ACI Code, except liquid retention structures <br />shall conform to requirements shown in the Drawings. <br /> <br />1. Securely wire wall dowels at foundations to the footing steel. <br /> <br />2. Where stub columns are poured (as in the case of stem walls) the dowels <br />shall be of a length sufficient to satisfy requirements of ACI Code and to <br />provide a minimum distance of 36 diameter lap where the main column is <br />joined to the stub column. <br /> <br />3. Place and support mesh by means of chairs or other approved devices, so <br />that it maintains its proper position in the slab during the pouring operations. <br /> <br />D. Size stirrups and column ties for bars designated in the Drawings and fabricate <br />to provide a clearance of 1 1/2 inches between the outside of the tie and the <br />surface of the concrete. <br /> <br />E. Unless shown otherwise in the Drawings, maintain the following minimum <br />concrete cover: <br /> <br />1. Bottom of suspended slabs: 3/4-inch <br /> <br />2. Top of slabs: 1-inch <br /> <br />3. Walls, beams and columns: 2-inches <br /> <br />4. Formed concrete contacting soil: 2-inches <br /> <br />5. Concrete placed against soil: 3-inches <br /> <br />F. See Drawings for special requirements for liquid retention structures. <br /> <br />G. Support column and beam reinforcing from formwork with plastic accessories. <br /> <br />H.
