<br /> <br />C. Make joints equal in width to the standard mortar joint. <br /> <br />D. Provide discontinuous horizontal joint enforcing at control joints. <br /> <br />3.08 CHASES <br /> <br />A. Construct masonry slots, chases, or openings required for the proper installation of <br />the work of other Sections as indicated in the Drawings or in accordance with <br />information furnished before the work is started at the points affected. <br /> <br />B. Do not cut chase into a wall constructed of hollow units after it is built, except as <br />directed and approved by the OWNER. <br /> <br />3.09 PROTECTED <br /> <br />A. Brush surfaces as work progresses and maintained as clean as it is practicable. <br /> <br />B. Rake back unfinished work where possible, and toothed only where absolutely <br />necessary. <br /> <br />C. Cover and protect walls, before leaving fresh or unfinished work, against damage <br />by means of waterproof paper, tarpaulins, boards, or other means. <br /> <br />3.10 CLEANUP <br /> <br />A. Clean mortar and grout drippings from exposed masonry and adjacent surfaces as <br />soon as possible to prevent surfaces from being permanently stained. <br /> <br />B. Remove drippings and smears before mortar or grout sets or hardens. <br /> <br />C. Remove mortar extruded beyond face of walls or partitions. <br /> <br />3.11 HOT WEATHER CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br />A.
