3. Provide spring hangers where pipe is subject to expansion and/or <br />contraction. <br /> <br />C. Hanger rods shall be subject to tensile loading only. <br /> <br />1. At hanger locations where lateral or axial movement is anticipated, suitable <br />linkage shall be provided to permit swing. <br /> <br />2. Hanger rods and associated hardware shall be type 316 stainless steel. <br /> <br />D. Concrete inserts and/or expansion bolts shall be capable of supporting the <br />maximum working load of the attached rod. <br /> <br />E. Sheet metal insulation protector saddle shall be used for hot water piping or <br />refrigerant piping. <br /> <br />1. Saddle shall be Grinnell Fig.167, or equal. <br /> <br />3.11 SADDLES <br /> <br />A. Pipe saddles shall be used to cradle horizontal piping when being supported <br />from below the springline, except where expansion of pipe requires rollers. <br /> <br />1. Saddles shall be capable of being adjusted after installation. <br /> <br />3.12 BASE ELBOWS TEES AND CONCRETE PEDESTALS <br /> <br />A. Base elbows, tees and concrete pedestals shall be provided at the locations <br />shown on the drawings, and as specified. <br /> <br />1. Vertical runs of pipe shall be supported on a base elbow and/or concrete <br />pedestal. <br /> <br />2. After completion of curing of the concrete pedestal, the piping shall be <br />adjusted to the proper grade. <br /> <br />3.13 METAL FRAMING SYSTEMS <br /> <br />A. A metal framing system as manufactured by Unistrut, Globe-Strut, Power-Strut, <br />or approved equal may be used for supporting the piping system. <br /> <br />1. The metal framing system shall be designed and installed according to <br />manufacturer's recommended procedure and shall be capable of supporting <br />the piping system as specified herein. <br /> <br />B.
