Jesse Cukierkorn <br /> 231 174''St.t11002,Sunny Isles Beach.FL 33160 <br /> (305)510-3117 jessewoman@hounail.com <br /> December 28.2017 <br /> Dear Members of the Cite of Sunny Isles Beach Commission, <br /> This letter is to express my interest in serving our city as a member of the Public Arts Advisory Committee <br /> (PAACt. <br /> I am an artist who has been trained at such prestigious institutions as The Corcoran School of the Arts and <br /> Design and Trinity Washington University in Washington DC,and the Rhode Island School of Design and <br /> Brown University,both in Providence.RI where I earned rnv undergraduate degree in Visual Art. I <br /> continued my training in drawing and painting at the The University of Southern Mississippi.in <br /> Hattiesburg Mississippi where I also earned a Masters of Art Education and Doctorate of Special Education <br /> with an emphasis in Gifted Studies. <br /> As a professional artist. I have been trained in all forms of production,presentation,and exhibition of fine <br /> art.as well as museum design. I have prepared individual works of art for presentation in both The <br /> Corcoran Gallery of Art and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. My work has been included in <br /> group shows as well as several individual shows at David Winton Bell Gallery at Brown University and the <br /> C.W. Woods Gallery at the University of Southern Mississippi.As an art educator. I have designed,juried. <br /> and presented numerous shows of student art work including serving as a Juror for the nationally <br /> recognized Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. <br /> My academic writing and communication skills further qualify me to serve on this committee dealing with <br /> art policy and public art. My hook. "Arts Education for Gifted Learners",edited by Frances Karnes and <br /> Kristen Stephens was published by Prufrock Press in 2007. My work has also been published in The <br /> Journal of Cultural Research in Art Education. Roeper Review. Dimensions of Early Childhood and NASA <br /> News,a publication of the National Art Education Association. I have taught for over 20 Years in general <br /> and special education settings at the elementary and secondary levels.in both public and private schools in <br /> four states. In 2007.I received the Research Initiative: Individual Award from The International <br /> NETWORK of Schools for the Advancement of Arts Education for my investigation of the intellectual and <br /> self-concept profiles of artistically talented students. In 2013 I was awarded National Board Certification <br /> from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in the area of Literacy: Reading-Language <br /> Arts/Early and Middle Childhood. I currently work for Miami-Dade County Public Schools,and am an <br /> Adjunct Professor for the Department of Curriculum. Instruction& Special Education at The University of <br /> Southern Mississippi,as well as for Miami-Dade College's School of Education. <br /> I am interested in serving on this Committee because I bring experience and expertise in the production and <br /> selection of artwork.Although I am a full-time resident of Sunny Isles Beach,my international travel <br /> exposes me to <br /> Public arts projects and art programs all over the world. <br /> I am willing and availability to serve as an advisor for a two year term.
