• Dr. Jesse Cukierkorn(Professionally trained artist who has exhibited in the Corcoran Gallery and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. and a PhD. in Special Education, she is the author of "Art Education for Gifted Learners"and currently works for the Miami-Dade School system and is an adjunct professor for the University of Southern Mississippi.) • Mr. Javier Rabinovich (Developer in downtown, North Miami Beach and Aventura & curator of all the art in his projects. He is working on hanging gardens presently.) • Ms. Patricia Finchelman(Alternate) (Urban Planning, landscape &architecture in Buenos Aires; artist with exhibited work) • Ms. Margarita Maksimov(Alternate)(Professional artist&designer of CD covers, been involved in other cities with Art in the Park BA, Design, Painting &Art History from Moscow School of Textile &Design.) As mentioned before, and, in accordance with our CMP, art in public spaces in this City has more than an aesthetic purpose. We seek the development of community identity and engagement- whether the art is provided by developers in accordance with the Art in Public Places Ordinance, or,whether the art sited on public properties by the City or any governmental agency. Therefore, it is this committee that will evaluate and debate each selection and make its recommendation to the Commission. All art selections should meet whatever criteria is finally recommended by the PAAC and approved by the Commission. Just as a reminder, in the case of art in public spaces associated with private development,please recall the recommendation of art will be treated as a condition subsequent to any zoning approval.2 In these cases, the PAAC selection process may occur at any time of a developer's choosing but prior to the issuance of the TCO. The first item on the agenda for the PAAC, once constituted, will be to establish specific criteria to be applied in the selection of art for recommendation to the Commission. The second agenda item will be to discuss potential projects and public art placement locations in furtherance of implementation of the CMP. It is therefore recommended the aforementioned individuals be selected as committee members for the Public Art Advisory Committee. 2 Just as a reminder and as an example,the approval of the project is not dependent on the art selection but once the project is approved,the proposed piece of art itself provided by the developer will be reviewed by the PAAC applying our criteria and making recommendations to the Commission.As an alternative,if any developer chooses to avoid this process,s/he has an option to provide funds to the Public Art Trust rather than providing the art itself.
