(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief Scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Design and permitting support for coastal engineering aspects of the new St Pete pier including offshore Breakwater/ Reef structure to
provide wave sheltering for a pocket beach and create artificial reef habitat. The Reef design includes intertidal hard bottom levels and
sloped areas providing habitat for oyster beds and large essential fish habitat areas. The design and analysis included regional modeling of
Tampa Bay tidal hydrodynamics and wave climate, evaluation of wave loading on pier structural elements and coordination with project
team on design and permitting.
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief Scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Senior coastal engineer and modeler completed regional model for Tampa Bay and detailed model for Apollo Beach Nature Preserve Park.
Wave and morphology modeling evaluated historical changes and proposed design alternatives. Design optimization of alternatives to
support environmental resources and provide shore protection.
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief Scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Senior coastal engineer and modeler completed regional circulation model runs for the region and project areas. Conducted an inlet
evolution model study for Hurricane Pass, evaluated inlet changes and impact analysis from alternative dredging designs, coastal processes
modeling, wave transformation modeling of nearshore area. Evaluation of alternative dredging configurations. Studies completed for Phases I
&II utilizing monitoring data for model verification.
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief Scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Senior coastal engineer and modeler completed wave transformation and refraction modeling, development of sand budget for alternative
design conditions for erosion control design and permitting support. Analysis included NLINE modeling for beach morphology modeling
applying 7 years of monitoring data for model calibration and verification, regional modeling, wave transformation modeling and inlet
morphology modeling using USACE historic data.
(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State)
Singer Island erosion control project, Palm Beach County, FL
Florida
(2) YEAR COMPLETED
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
CONSTRUCTION (If Applicable)
N/A
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief Scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Senior coastal modeler completed beach evolution modeling and effects of nearshore hardbottom on beach evolution. The project tasks
included evaluation of various alternatives for erosion control including, breakwaters, groins and submerged artificial reef structures. The
analysis also included modeling of the USACE existing submerged breakwater at Sunny Isles which was constructed in 2002 in Miami Dade
County Florida. The modeling and analysis evaluated the functional design of the Sunny Isles project and the improved sand budget as the
result of the nourishment completed along adjacent beaches.
