He developed a 3D numerical model (Delft3D) study centered on the project area to <br />evaluate the effects of dredging the New Pass ebb shoal on the surrounding coastal system. The modeling also <br />required the deployment of APTIM’s in‐house ADCPs to collect wave and current data to provide field data for <br />model verification. The successful modeling analysis resulted in issuance of the project permits and construction <br />was completed in less than 40 days. In early 2015, Mr. Pierro also directed the Tropical Storm Debby Repair project, <br />constructed by the City of Sarasota with FEMA funding. He administered all aspects of the construction contract <br />resulting in an on‐time and on‐budget completion of the projects. <br />Mr. Pierro is currently managing the coastal engineering services that APTIM is providing to the City of Sarasota to <br />assist the USACE with the federally authorized Lido Key HSDR Project. He assisted with the review of the USACE Big <br />Sarasota Pass modeling study, attended the NEPA scoping meeting, manages the FDEP permitting, and participates <br />in regular USACE project team meetings. <br />d. <br />(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED <br />Captiva and Sanibel Islands Beach Nourishment Project <br />Lee County, Florida <br />PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If <br />applicable) <br />2006‐present 2005/2006, 2008, 2013 <br />BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm <br />Mr. Pierro worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as representative of the Captiva Erosion Prevention District <br />(CEPD), who is the local sponsor, during construction of the Federal 2005‐06 Captiva and Sanibel Islands <br />Renourishment Project. He also acted as on‐site engineer and consultant for construction of beach and <br />rehabilitation of the terminal groin at Redfish Pass, a local component of the Federal project. Mr. Pierro assisted <br />with the 2014 nourishment project as Senior Project Manager and currently leads our APTIM team for the CEPD’s <br />projects and provides direct support to CEPD staff. <br />e. <br />(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED <br />Palm Beach Comprehensive Erosion Control Project <br />Palm Beach County, Florida <br />PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If <br />applicable) <br />April 2006 – Present N/A <br />BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm <br />As Project Manager and Modeling Engineer, Mr. Pierro designed the project to hold a moderate beach with <br />structures based on results from two numerical models: the BOUSS2D breaking wave model and the Delft3D <br />morphologic (sand transport) model. In that time, Mr. Pierro has provided keen <br />oversight for the progress and success of the County’s beach management program. Mr. Pierro has led the APTIM <br />team to implement major beach management initiatives for the County, including being involved in the technical <br />aspects of updating the County’s Beach Preservation Plan and implementation the Sector 3 Dune Repair Project. He <br />is currently supporting the development of the planned Sector 5 Beach and Dune Renourishment Project.
