To this end, our firm focuses on safety in a number of ways. Meetings, conference calls, or other gatherings begin with a safety moment so that all individuals develop a mindset and are rewarded for safety communications. Before personnel enter the field, they participate in a tailgate meeting where they discuss the day’s work, possible hazards and their mitigation, proper tools, and the location of emergency health facilities. In our work in Florida, the heat index and lightning storms receive extreme vigilance in order to keep teams safe. Every employee carries a safety card that empowers him/her to call a work shutdown if they observe unsafe practices. As a result of our safety efforts, APTIM maintains one of the lowest Experience Modification Rates (EMR) (a measure of safety performance) in the industry, as illustrated in Exhibit 3. We also utilize an established Dive Safety Program for all underwater work, which exceeds OSHA and AAUS standards. Invoicing APTIM’s accounting department will prepare monthly invoices for services rendered during the previous month on a percent complete basis for lump sum contracts or hourly for time and materials contracts. Proposals and subsequent invoices will be based on the approved rates and classifications for the Master Agreement established for this continuing services contract. The Project Manager will review all invoices, including those of other team members, before they are issued to the City for accuracy and completeness.
