1 <br /> 1 <br /> assembled and made ready so that the work can be completed without delay. <br /> 1 F. All workmanship and new materials involved in constructing the alterations shall <br /> conform to the General Specifications for the classes of work insofar as such <br /> specifications are applicable. <br /> G. All cutting of existing masonry or other material to provide suitable bonding to <br /> new work shall be done in a manner to meet the requirements of the respective <br /> section of these specifications covering the new work. When not covered, the <br /> work shall be carried on in the manner and to extent directed by the Engineer. <br /> H. Where holes in existing masonry are required to be sealed, unless otherwise <br /> herein specified, they shall be sealed with cement mortar or concrete. The sides <br /> of the openings shall be provided with keyed joints and shall be suitably <br /> roughened to furnish a good bond and make a watertight joint. All loose or <br /> unsound material adjacent to the opening shall be removed and, if necessary, <br /> replaced with new material. The method of placing the mortar seal shall provide <br /> a suitable means of releasing entrapped air. <br /> Surfaces of seals visible in the completed work shall be made to match as nearly <br /> as possible the adjacent surfaces. <br /> J. Nonshrink grout shall be used for setting wall castings, sleeves, leveling pump <br /> 1 bases, doweling anchors into existing concrete and elsewhere as shown. <br /> K. Operating equipment shall be thoroughly cleaned and then lubricated and <br /> greased for protection during prolonged storage. <br /> L. The Contractor shall provide flumes, hoses, piping, etc. to divert or provide <br /> suitable plugs, bulkheads or other means to hold back the flow of wastewater, <br /> water or other liquids, all as required in the performance of the work under this <br /> Contract. <br /> 3.02 CONNECTING TO EXISTING PIPING AND EQUIPMENT <br /> A. The Contractor shall verify exact location, material, alignment, joint, etc. of <br /> existing piping and equipment prior to making the connections called out in the <br /> Drawings. The verifications shall be performed with adequate time to correct <br /> any potential alignment or other problems prior to the actual time of connection. <br /> B. The Contractor shall dismantle and remove all existing equipment, piping and <br /> other appurtenances required, he shall cut existing pipelines for the purpose of <br /> making connections thereto. Anchor bolts for equipment and structural steel <br /> removed shall be cut off one inch below the concrete surface. Surface shall be <br /> finished as specified in Division 3. <br /> 1 C. At the time that a new connection is made to an existing pipeline, additional new <br /> piping, extending to and including the most convenient new valve, shall be <br /> installed. <br /> 1 05/08 01046-2 05-4893 <br />
