1 <br /> 1 <br /> 1 D. Before the prime coat is applied, all loose material, dust, dirt or other foreign <br /> material which might prevent bond with existing surface shall be moved to the <br /> shoulders to the full width of the base by means of revolving brooms, mechanical <br /> sweepers, blowers, supplemented by hand sweeping or other approved <br /> methods. The glazed finish shall have been removed from the base. The prime <br /> coat shall be applied by a pressure distributor so that approximately 0.1 gallons <br /> per square yard is applied uniformly and thoroughly to a clean surface. <br /> E. Prior to the application of the surface course, all loose material, dust, dirt and all <br /> foreign material which might prevent proper bond with the existing surface shall <br /> be removed to the full width of the repair by means of approved mechanical <br /> sweepers and supplemented by hand sweeping if required. <br /> 1 F. Apply bituminous tack coat at a rate between 0.02 and 0.10 gallons per square <br /> yard. Bituminous material shall be heated as per manufacturers <br /> recommendations. <br /> G. The truing and leveling asphaltic concrete shall be placed in lifts of three-quarter <br /> inches (3/4") maximum. Overlay asphalt shall be placed in one 1" lift. <br /> H. All manhole castings, valve boxes or other utility castings within the area to be <br /> surfaced shall be adjusted to the proposed surface elevation by the Contractor. <br /> The work shall be accomplished in such a manner as to leave the casting fixed <br /> permanently in its correct position at no additional cost to the Owner. <br /> 3.02 PAVEMENT REPAIR <br /> A. All damage to pavement as a result of the work (construction or maintenance) <br /> under this contract shall be repaired according to the plans and specifications at <br /> e the Contractor's cost. Pavement shall be repaired to match the original surface <br /> material and original grade, however, the asphalt concrete thickness shall not be <br /> less than 1 inch. The repair shall include the preparation of the subgrade, the <br /> placing and compacting of the limerock base in 6" maximum lifts, the preparation <br /> and priming of the base, the placing and maintaining of the surface treatment, all <br /> as specified herein and as shown on the Drawings. <br /> 1 B. The width of all repairs shall extend at least 12 inches beyond the limit of the <br /> damage or as shown on the Drawings. The edge of the pavement to be left in <br /> place shall be saw cut to a true edge and should provide a clean edge to abut the <br /> repair. The line of the repair shall be reasonably uniform with no unnecessary <br /> irregularities. <br /> t3.03 TESTING <br /> A. The Contractor shall have density, soil bearing, materials and such other tests <br /> performed as directed by the Engineer and shall pay the costs of such tests in <br /> accordance with Section 01410.
