( Communications ) REFERENCES
miatin
VOICE TAIFIBER SYSTEMS City of Sunny Isles Beach
DESIGN•INSTALLATION•FNANCINO RFP# 04-04-01
Jacksonville Port Authority —Jacksonville, Fl.
QUALITY COMMUNICATIONS FIRE AND SECURITY, INC. is currently installing
a state of the art CCTV security system for JaxPort. Completion is scheduled for May of
2004. This system ties together three (3) of the ports critical areas including Dames
Point, Talleyrand, and Blount Island. It includes over 70 CCTV cameras complete with a
large scale wireless microwave digital video camera transmission network. One of the
most interesting features of this system is the ability of the mobile police units to utilize
their laptops, while moving at speeds up to 35 MPH, to receive alarms, view and control
PTZ cameras and assess threats. All of this is accomplished through a large 802.11g
wireless network. The Object Video threat detection software automatically analyzes
threat potential video for any targets, decides on whether to alarm the event, and then
transmits this alert and video directly to the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT), where the
MDT then takes control of the PTZ cameras for further threat assessment. This entire job
is valued at $1.7M and has a four-month completion time. Blount Island alone is one of the largest car
import places in the country and covers over 754 acres and 5,280 feet of berthing space.
Talleyrand is a 173 acre terminal handling South American and Caribbean conatainorized
cargoes. Dames Point is Jaxport's newest terminal with over 585 acres of land and is
undergoing major upgrades. Altogether, JaxPort represents one of the largest, in square
footage, seaports in the southeast.
