H [ HEWETT-KIER CONSTRUCTION, INC. GENERAL CONTRACTORS 0 With a bonding capacity of over$65 million and work on hand totaling approximately $13 million, Hewett- Kier Construction, Inc. is operating at less than 20%of its available capacity. As a contractor who has specialized in government construction since its inception in 1977 to this date, Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc. has continuously updated and improved its management personnel and techniques. Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc. has the resources available and the ability to successfully perform in this project. The following is a description of Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc.'s construction management program: The construction department is headed by Craig Colligan, the Vice President of Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc. Currently there are four project managers working directly under Mr. Colligan. It is the project manager's responsibility to ensure the timely completion of the project and to ensure that all paperwork requirements are met such as submittals, Requests for Information and change orders. In addition, the project manager helps prepare the CPM and attends the jobsite coordination meetings held, at a minimum, bi-weekly at the jobsite. The project manager constantly monitors the projects for which he is responsible and directs the superintendent as needed. Each project manager is provided with a company truck and ® computer to facilitate his job. Each project has a superintendent assigned to it full time. The superintendent is at the jobsite ever day work is being performed. It is his responsibility to supervise Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc.'s forces as well as those of its subcontractors. When work is being performed by a subcontractor, Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc. requires that subcontractor to name, in writing, it's foreman or superintendent who must be onsite when their work is being performed. Hewett-Kier Construction,Inc.'s superintendent deals only with this individual in directing the subcontractor's work. The superintendent is in charge of job quality, insuring that the work is performed properly and that the proper materials are being used. The superintendent answers directly to the project manager and is required to inform the project manager daily as to job progress. Depending on the size of the project, Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc. utilizes either an on-site project engineer or one that is in a centralized location and responsible for several projects. The project engineer is responsible for expediting and reviewing submittals and for inputting this information in Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc.'s project management software. The project engineer works with the superintendent to help expedite the project and under the supervision of the project manager. When working on only one project, the project engineer also performs quality control functions.. Software utilized for project management are: leExcel spreadsheet - for listing correspondence, logs, tool inventory and job logs Super Prolog Plus - Project Management Software - This software is used for submittal logs, submittals transmittals, Requests For Information, change order logs,daily reports and non-compliance notices and logs. With this software Hewett-Kier Construction, Inc. is able to immediately determine the status of any of the above items and develop "hot lists" of items needing constant monitoring.
