Project Website
The use of a project website would be an effective tool for this location where the residents are likely to be
technologically savvy. The website could be on both the Internet as well as a Facebook page. The website
will be useful throughout the project. The website can include elements such as:
• Overview/History of the project
• Undergrounding process with photos and video
• An interactive map where residents can access the plans and schedules related to a specific street or
property
• Project schedules
• Project plans
• Project costs
• Project photos
• Option to sign up for E-Newsletters
• Current and past E-Newsletters
• Contact information
• Frequently asked questions

Budget
This is a large complex project and our team has good experience in managing such endeavors. Our
experience is that undergrounding projects cost approximately $600 a foot, or $3M per mile, including all
components such as survey, design, easement acquisition, public outreach, utility coordination, conduit
installation, pavement restoration, landscape restoration, payments to FPL for pole removal and wire
installation, utility conversion, construction administration, project management, etc. For example, the
Town of Palm Beach recently approved $90M of bonds for their 45 pole-mile project at an average cost of
only $2M per mile. That project is being completed in phases and is a significant effort. Our team recently
completed a value engineering effort to help the Town review the work that is being done and offer
suggestions to improve cost, schedule and quality. At this time our team is not working on that Town of
Palm Beach effort and will not be distracted by that demanding, albeit exciting, project or client.

The City of Sunny Isles Beach has approximately 2.4 miles of overhead pole lines to convert. The City’s
budget notes that a cost of $7.2M and from our experience that may be inadequate for this undertaking. A
long project such as this will also encounter inflation and variations in the pricing due to market demands
and fluctuations as well as the challenges and unexpected issues that every project encounters.

Scheduling
The project will include the following efforts:
DESCRIPTION ESTIMATED DURATION REMARKS
Design Phase
Preliminary base maps, planning 3 months
FPL Design and survey 6 months
Conceptual design 3 months
Easement acquisition 6-9
months
ATT and Comcast design 2 months
Final design 2 months
Permits, QC, City, utility review, complete
easements
1-3 months
