Once completed, our design will install new conduit <br />and associated structures, equipment pads, pedestals and new decorative street lighting along the project corridor. We are <br />placing the main conduit trench within the center turn lane to reduce traffic control requirements and disruption to drivers. This conversion consisted of relocating overhead electric <br />and communication lines to an underground conduit system along North Ocean Boulevard from Sea Mountain Highway to <br />29th Avenue North. This project was a joint effort in conjunction with the City of North Myrtle Beach, Santee Cooper Electric <br />Cooperative, Horry Telephone Cooperative, Time Warner Cable and Frontier Communications. The project also involved the <br />relocation and upgrade of the existing water service within the project area. The utility conversion <br />consisted of relocating overhead electric and telecommunication lines to an underground conduit system. This was a joint effort <br />in conjunction with local utility providers. The intersection improvements were federally-funded and managed through a Local <br />Participation Agreement between SCDOT and the City of North Myrtle Beach. Improvements consisted of the addition of turn <br />lanes along 6th Avenue South, signalization upgrades, drainage and streetscape improvements.
