CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR <br />Golden Shores Utility Undergrounding and Roadway Improvements <br />E–18IWOP41002.18w_Sunny Isles Beach Golden Shores Undergrounding.indd <br />Kimley-Horn was retained to prepare a Stormwater Master plan for the Town, which faces a number of challenges, <br />including a high water table relative to the existing grade (which are generally very flat; numerous pockets of <br />contamination throughout the Town caused by industrial tenants); Florida East Coast Railway, which bisects the Town and <br />thus often makes conveyance of stormwater to the nearby C-6 Canal (the Miami River) cost prohibitive; and the lingering <br />threat of sea level rise and climate change. <br />As part of the Stormwater Master Plan, Kimley-Horn is helping to prioritize 12 problem areas for the Town; plan and <br />model projects to improve the conditions; provide pollutant loading reduction information for use in grant applications; <br />and considering the Southeast Florida Unified Sea Level Rise Study findings, a requirement to ensure the projects provide <br />long-term flood protection and to ensure eligibility for financial assistance from Miami-Dade County in the future.
