Smith & Associates, Inc.
Engineers • Surveyors • Subsurface Utility Engineering
3D Subsurface Imaging • Utility Coordination
• CAS commits to high moral and ethical standards throughout the project.
• CAS provides quality assurance/quality control and value-added results for all
projects.
• CAS utilizes state-of-the-art technologies (Autodesk Civil 3D, 2-D GPR, 3-D Radar
Tomography, latest survey equipment)
Cost Control
In order to get the most accurate budget price at the pre -construction phase and the
construction phase, CAS details all design items into many small parts that will add up to
one whole project (unit pricing, quantities and bill of materials). By doing this, our cost
estimates are very accurate. Our track record with cost estimates to bids has been within
5%-10%. CAS's philosophy utilizes a phased approach towards assisting the city in problem
solving and for implementation of public works and planning projects. Schedule, cost control
and team work - the CAS approach is to develop milestones and defined deliverables with
the city in order to meet the city's requirements. We try to identify potential issues early in
the project so necessary action can be taken to keep the project on schedule. We continually
update the cost of the project in order to stay on budget. If an issue develops with the
schedule, cost or the budget, we advise the city and develop a plan for corrective measures
with the staff. We consider the city and CAS as one team, all striving for the same goal - a
quality product on schedule and on budget. CAS technical reviews are conducted throughout
the project schedule by the principal members of our firm as part of our commitment to quality
engineering.
We propose to negotiate a lump sum cost for each project prior to issuance of a work order.
Our goal is to have no additional fees on any project.
CAS also has an excellent track record on construction cost over runs. Listed below is CAS's
change order history for construction projects over the last ten (10) years. Note the change
order is zero to less than three percent (3%). The average typically is approximately one and
a half percent (1.5%).
7777 Glades Road, Suite 410, Boca Raton, FL 33434 • Ph: 561-314-4445 • www.craigasmith.com • LB3110 14
