City of Sunny Isles Beach RFQ No. 18-08-01 | Consulting Engineering Services for Golden Shores Utility Undergrounding and Roadway Improvements (CCNA)
Landscape Architecture
The Landscape Architecture Department at CGA will inventory the existing site conditions, analyze the effective areas due to the utility modifications, evaluate the opportunities to provide landscaping, and prepare detailed landscape and irrigation plans and specifications for the project. In developing each design, we take special care to evaluate green design and sustainable alternatives and to provide specialized research on the site’s conditions, hydrology, existing vegetation, and site characteristics. We will ensure the surface water infrastructure, drainage, utilities, line of clear sight and any other safety considerations are adhered to in order to minimize any potential conflicts that may arise as a result of the proposed construction and improvements. We have experience in implementing landscape strategies and streetscape improvements that foster increased roadway and pedestrian safety, promote good tree and canopy coverage and health, and upgrade community aesthetics. Lastly, we are capable of delivering exceptional landscape solutions in providing landscape improvements that employ the practices of water conservation, through the use of Xeriscape principles, appropriate plant detailing to ensure proper root-growth and preventative infrastructure impacts, as well as fostering sustainable storm-water management practices through the use of landscaped bio-swales, pervious pavement systems, and other strategies.
UTILITY COORDINATION/CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Early and pro-active communication/coordination with the UAO’s is the most critical element in the process. The coordination effort will focus on early identification, conflict avoidance and planning for utility adjustments and relocations as needed. Some instances may require water or sewer point relocations. CGA, along with USUPAE, our Subsurface Utility Engineering subconsultant, fully understands the commitment and level of effort involved for this task to successfully complete the design process on schedule. Design tickets obtained through Sunshine 811 will identify UAO’s with facilities within the project limits and initial field reviews conducted in an effort to identify potential conflicts.
EASEMENT ACQUISITION
Once utility trenches and equipment are finalized with each UAO, the PM will have our surveyors begin preparing the sketch and legal descriptions for the easements necessary for equipment in private property. The sketch and legal descriptions of the utility easements will be provided to the appropriate UAO and the City for review. Once the documents are approved they will be provided to the City’s legal department or legal consultant for incorporation in the agreements with the owners. It is our understanding that the City will coordinate with the individual property owners for execution of the easements and any necessary agreements; however, CGA can assist with this public notification/information process if the City desires.
All executed easements will be shown in the plans with the recorded OR book/page noted for inclusion in the construction documents.
12
