Smith & Associates, Inc.
Engineers • Surveyors • Subsurface Utility Engineering
3D Subsurface Imaging • Utility Coordination
PROJECT APPROACH
CAS will work with the City's staff to provide the best possible services and solutions to complete the
stormwater pump station rehabilitation project in a cost effective manner. CAS will also investigate
the application of innovative technologies and utilize a phased approach towards assisting the City in
the implementation of the stromwater pump station rehabilitation project. Our general project
approach is as follows:
PHASE I - PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND PLANNING (PRE -DESIGN)
• Meeting with City Staff to develop the
project scope and establish project
requirements
• Establish responsibilities of all project
participants
• Develop a fee proposal to match the
project scope
• Finalize the scope and proceed with a
kickoff meeting with the City Staff
• Perform Pre -Design Field Condition
Assessment
• Conduct Hydraulic Modeling/Feasibility
Studies (as needed)
• Prepare preliminary (conceptual)
engineering design/plans
• Prepare preliminary construction cost
estimate
• Public Involvement/Community
Outreach (as needed)
CAS shall develop the project scope in a manner that will avoid schedule conflicts and allow for an
efficient flow of work. CAS believes a high level of consistent communication will be essential in
providing a successful completion of the assigned rehabilitation project. Our management team will
maintain a high level of communication with continuous accessibility to CAS staff and all other team
members (sub -consultants). The CAS Team's goal is to seamlessly operate as an extension to City
staff to satisfactorily complete the rehabilitation project on time and on or under budget.
PHASE II - SURVEY AND ENGINEERING DESIGN
• Survey site
• Geotechnical and field testing (as
required)
• Review existing record drawings, utility
atlases and evaluate field/operational
conditions
• Utility Locates utilizing available
technologies, such as, Vacuum Soft
21045 Commercial Trial, Boca Raton, FL 33486 • Ph: 561-314-4445 • www.craigasmith.com • LB3110
