SUMMARY MINUTES City Commission Workshop Meeting Thursday, July 25, 2002, 1:00 p.m. CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS The meeting was called to order by Mayor Samson at 1:00 p.m., with the following officials present: Mayor David Samson Vice Mayor Danny Iglesias (arrived at 1:09 p.m.) Commissioner Norman S. Edelcup Commissioner Gerry Goodman Commissioner Lila Kauffman City Manager Christopher J. Russo (arrived at 1:08 p.m.) City Clerk Richard Brown-Morilla Deputy City Attorney Hans Ottinot INTRODUCTIONS: Mayor Samson asked City Clerk Brown-Morilla to start the meeting and he introduced Shelley Eichner, City Planning Consultant, and Vice President of Calvin Giordano and Assoc. Ms. Eichner quickly reviewed some of the prior discussion from the second workshop and a continuation (July 8, 2002) [City Clerk's note: 4 documents were distributed at the meeting]: • Discussion of each district with modifications to some of the zoning criteria, permitted uses, etc. within each of those zoning categories; • Increase the base FAR in the B-1 and B-2 categories from 1.5 to 2.0; and • Discussion of the 5% rule for hotel/motel units and converting. Public Speakers: Joseph Milton; Clifford Schulman, Esq.; Bill Lone 2. Archeological and Historical Landmarks: Deputy City Attorney Hans Ottinot distributed a memo regarding his proposal to delete Chapter 6 relating to Historic Preservation, in light of the fact that the County is considering a new Historic Preservation Ordinance.
