GREEN MARKET
Pompano Beach, FL
Number of Weekly Attendees: 250-1,000 weekly (Depending on season and
special events)
The Pompano Beach Green Market is
currently in its 14th season, making it
the longest, continuously running Green
Market in Broward County. The Green
Market has supported and incubated many
entrepreneurs on their path to business
ownership including Northcutt’s Category
12 hot sauce (featured as a Whole Foods
regional product), Finley’s Bahamian
Restaurant (now a full time restaurant),
and Blooming Bean (a full time coffee shop
at BaCA), as well as many others who have
gone on to open retail locations or partner
with local businesses to carry their products.
EAST VILLAGE UNCORKED
Pompano Beach, FL
Number of Vendors: 35 monthlyNumber of Monthly Attendees: 750-1,200
When Uncorked was launched in 2011, Harbor
Village Shoppes was still a severely blighted shopping
plaza with an occupancy rate of approximately 40%.
The CRA invested $4 million in renovations to the
streetscape, arcade, parking lot and façade programs
for the Harbor Village Shoppes, and in 2013 when the
event re-launched it took off! Residents and tourists
gathered for viewing art, artists at work, live music,
dancing and sampling a variety of wines located inside
the stores. About 6 months after the redevelopment
and re-launch of the event, one store reported an 84%
increase in sales over the previous year. By the time
the event was completed in July 2015, its mission had
been accomplished with 99% of the available retail
space leased including 5 new restaurants and 3 retail/
service shops.
MARGATE UNDER THE MOON
Margate, FL
Number of Attendees: 5,000 monthly
Number of Vendors: 40-50 monthly
Margate Under the Moon (“MUM”), was created to get
residents and visitors accustomed to coming to the future
Margate downtown (City Center) and takes place August
through November. MUM, staged as a community-based
monthly event, focuses on enhancing Margate’s brand and
showcasing local businesses and local musical talent. The
Margate CRA (MCRA), which produces the event, offers local
businesses increased exposure with free vendor space to
market themselves to an audience that may not otherwise
visit the area, creating an opportunity for business growth.
While many other MCRA-sponsored events generally
attract an older demographic, who are primarily residents
of Margate; the intention of Margate Under the Moon was
to bring in the younger generation, who may potentially
live, work and play in the future City Center, as well as draw
people from the surrounding communities looking for the
next “hip” thing to do.
30 | RMA | Tab 2 | Qualifications | RFP No. 19-07-02
