BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />R.J. Behar & Company, Inc. (RJ Behar) was contracted by <br />the South Florida Water Management District to design a <br />project to relocate Cypress Canal Weir #1 (GOLD4A), <br />Project in Naples, FL. The new project will include the <br />construction of a new, locally and remotely operated, water <br />control structure in the new alignment of the Cypress Canal, <br />approximately 1,275 ft east and 270 ft south of the existing <br />weir. This project was originated as part of the Big Cypress <br />Basin (BCB) Capital Prioritization initiative that supports the <br />BCB 2018 - 2023 Strategic Plan for retrofitting old inefficient <br />water control structures and building new structures to meet <br />current or future design conditions. The structure will be <br />located at the northwest corner of 23rd Street NW and the <br />Cypress Canal, one block east of the existing weir. <br /> The replacement structure will be based on SFWMD design <br />and construction guidelines. The new structure will include three new slide/weir gates, a three-cell box culvert to be used as a <br />bridge, new stilling wells, a 10 ft x 10 ft control room, communications and miscellaneous appurtenances. The bridge will be 24 ft <br />wide. <br /> Methodology & Approach: RJ Behar followed the most current version of the District Engineering Design Guidelines, Design <br />Criteria Memorandums (DCM’s), Submittal Requirements and industry practice. The scope included hydraulic analyses using the <br />HEC-RAS model, site design including grading and drainage. An Auto turn model was used to model the 55-ton crane in use by the <br />District, new riprap design, electrical, structural and mechanical design. RJ Behar also prepared specifications and cost estimates. <br />Quality Assurance/Quality Control: <br />A project specific QA/QC plan was prepared for the project. Quality control was completed by other members of the team. <br />Management Process: The schedule, budgets, and deliverables were monitored using spreadsheets and scheduling software. <br />Results: The design is currently in Preliminary Engineering submittal. <br />Cost/Fees Paid: $366,700 │Construction Cost: $3,200,000 (Estimated) <br />Key Personnel: Robert J.
