Beam Delivery
The longitudinal structural system consists of three 150-ft-long, 72-inch FUBs, each approximately
weighing 120 tons. Transportation of beams of this length and weight along Florida’s highway system
requires special truck permits and routes. However, H&H has identified a marine transportation route
option that will allow these large beams to be transported by barge. There is 180 foot of city right-of-
way along a bulkhead at 183rd Street that may allow barge access from the Intracoastal Waterway.
The FUBs can be transported via barge from prestressed fabricators such as Standard Concrete
Products in Tampa. This marine delivery option greatly simplifies transportation of these beams
and does not require any special trucking permits or routes. The beams can be offloaded at
183rd Street and trucked 2,000 foot to the project site.
Navigation Chart Showing Adequate Depth and Bulkhead Along 183rd Street
Beam Marine Delivery Option
D-20
