From inception, our management activities will apply throughout the scope, schedule, and budget of your projects. In the public driven sector, we work closely with our clients as well as hand-in-hand with our equipment planners, civil engineers, MEP engineers, structural engineers, landscape architects and City/code officials. The only success we have is when our client is successful. We have often entered into integrated project delivery where the stakeholders all have a share in the success of the project. We treat each other as partners, and this forms trust — something that is always our end goal. Quality Assurance (QA): Our planned and systematic approach to doing work providing confidence we will meet expectations. Quality Control (QC): We check work against a “control” standard to ensure that work is completed in accordance with the established criteria. 4. Green Design As members of the US Green Building Council, and with four LEED Accredited Professionals on staff, Saltz Michelson Architects advocates that sustainable design is sensible design, and green design will achieve the following: • Bring efficiencies to mechanical operation and human performance • Create opportunities for interaction with the natural environment • Respond to the natural contextual effects of climate, orientation and other influences • Use resources efficiently • Maximize the use of local materials • Minimize demolition and construction wastes • Use products that minimize waste in their production or disposal • Use energy and resources as efficiently as possible • Create projects with healthy indoor environments Energy conservation and sustainability are critical elements of every design we produce. It has always been our philosophy to provide design solutions that improve the comfort and health of the occupants within the built environment while sustaining and enhancing our natural environment. At the early stages of every project, our design team meets with the owner to develop a list of energy conservation measures to be evaluated. Each measure is input into the building energy model, and life cycle cost or simple energy payback calculations are prepared as required for the Owner to make an informed decision as to their inclusion in the project. Throughout the design process, changes to the building envelope, floor plans, water conservation, and energy sources are continually updated in the energy model to check the impact on energy consumption and life cycle cost to the various energy measures included in the project. Our sustainable designs have proven to significantly reduce our clients’ operating and maintenance costs - freeing up considerable resources to help fund the critical activities for which these facilities were created.
