BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)
This project included the construction of a 30,000 GPM pump station in Tropical Drive. In
development of the drainage project, the incorporation of a parcel that the Town owned at the
corner of Woolbright and A1A, was designed and permitted to be a passive park/detention
area.
The pump station utilizes a 48 inch diameter storm water force main running up A1A to transfer
runoff to the detention area/park located on Woolbright Road. Because of narrow right of ways,
the construction was difficult and inconvenient to residences. As an alternative, Engenuity Group
proposed utilization of storm water injection wells.
Currently injection wells are generally used for water and wastewater effluent removal, but a
recent trend with the CERP Plan and other storm water recovery efforts has brought storm water
injection wells to the forefront of engineering technology. This technique of flood control is
widely utilized in Miami-Dade County where land is limited and surface storm water regulations
are stringent. Yearly maintenance and upkeep are an important part of keeping this station
working to maximum capacity.
25.
