This data was provided to Brown and Caldwell
engineers who were working on designs for water storage
and water treatment.
This project was part of the state-federal Comprehensive
Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) that aimed to send
clean water south to the parched Southern Everglades and
Florida Bay while reducing damaging discharge from Lake
Okeechobee. The reservoir is expected to hold 240,000
acre-feet of water with this newly constructed treatment
wetland. The STA will provide water storage, remove
harmful nutrient pollution, and conveyance for an
additional 370,000 acre-feet per year on average.
The conveyance improvements and the STA are expected
to be completed by 2023. The USACE is planning to
construct the storage reservoir component by 2028.

CONTACT INFO
James A.
